Millie Mountfort

From Eternal Noire 3.0

"When Ophelia appears onstage in Act IV, scene V, singing little songs and handing out imaginary flowers, she temporarily upsets the entire power dynamic of the Elsinore court. When I picture that scene, I always imagine Gertrude, Claudius, Laertes, and Horatio sharing a stunned look, all of them thinking the same thing: “We fucked up. We fucked up bad.” It might be the only moment of group self-awareness in the whole play. Not even the grossest old Victorian dinosaur of a critic tries to pretend that Ophelia is making a big deal out of nothing. Her madness and death is plainly the direct result of the alternating tyranny and neglect of the men in her life. She’s proof that adolescent girls don’t just go out of their minds for the fun of it. They’re driven there by people in their lives who should have known better."
B. N. Harrison, 'The Unified Theory of Ophelia'

Descriptions

Appearance

Millie Mountfort is an ethereal presence, willowy and delicate; she is only some three inches taller than five feet in height, but despite her small frame she is a striking presence. Her hair is long and seems perpetually messy, and she only occasionally seems to bother with a light bit of makeup.

The young woman dresses like she looted a thrift store for anything 'Gothic' or 'Bohemian,' carelessly spinning an ensemble out of the bits that pleased her; she is frequently seen barefoot, though it seems less a choice than a habit of forgetting to don shoes.

Anyone who spends much time looking at her can quickly guess that Millie is extremely mentally ill, but somehow there is something in her sad smile and her captivating pale blue eyes that draws others in despite the warning signs.

Personality

Millie is a quiet, sweet young woman, if one can manage to capture and hold her attention. She tends to behave somewhat whimsically unless she feels threatened; when frightened she tends to fall into disturbing fits of eerie proclamations and personal observations that cut deeply into those who have troubled her.

Brief History

Millie's history has so far been elusive. The troubled Kindred made her way into Seattle from Kirkland, asking about her parents and her Sire; the latter seems to have been in Seattle at the time of the Vanishing, leading Millie to come searching for him. Of her mortal life, even less is known.

Roleplaying Hooks

The Little Dragon
Millie is a rising star among the local Dragons, having applied her strange abilities and Malkovian insights toward a rapid grasping of the Mystery of the Voivode.
Lovely Mad Girl
There's really no way around it - anyone spending more than a few minutes around Millie quickly realizes the young Kindred is deeply, profoundly mentally unwell. She does not seem dangerous in her madness, not unless she feels threatened, but it is quite plain her mind is broken in ways that mundane mental illness cannot explain.
From the Eyes of Eccentricity, From the Mouth of Madness
For all her broken mind, Millie's faculties are remarkably sharp, and in ways beyond a simple grasp of Auspex. She is uncannily observant of her environment and those around her, and her troubled brain has an uncanny grasp for spinning bizarre plans that have no business working yet prove remarkably effective. Rumor says she can see Dragon Lines and other mystical phenomena, and even peer briefly into the future.
Sommelier
Perhaps related to her studies of vitae, or maybe simply a function of her borderline-superhuman power of perception, Millie has an uncanny nose for Vitae and the vessels which bear it. She is capable of assessing the quality of a mortal's blood even within their veins, and can supposedly match Kindred to vessels that are perfectly-suited to them...
