Description:

Bourbon and Branch has nearly 150 years of serving libations. From 1921 to 1933, the speakeasy operated illegally through the Prohibition, and somehow managed to keep from being noticed by federal Prohibition Agents. Utilizing a connection with Canadian bootleggers in Vancouver, the establishment was never short on illegal spirits. Today, the speakeasy atmosphere of yesteryear is maintained, and in fact, expected under house rules. Visitors must have reservations or know the secret password to enter the unmarked door. Once inside they can pass through though a concealed bookshelf door from the main lounge to the Library, a smaller bar lined with books. On the Changeling side of things, all members of the Freehold know the password to get in; the password for Lost is always different than the one for mortals. The Library has yet another hidden door that leads to a Winter safehouse, one of the only widely known ones in the city. |
Cafe Flore

Description:
|
Cafe Flore has been around since the 70s and has provided a much-needed non-bar hangout for the LGBTQ+ community, as well as for hipsters, students, artists, and anyone who likes a cafe with a quirky vibe. This is not to say that Flore is dry, they do have a fully stocked bar for those who desire a quiet place to enjoy a drink or two. Flore also frequently hosts community events and shows. The cafe has come close to closing several times in its history - both high property rent and the near glacial pace securing and renewing the various licenses require to operate have nearly done Flore in and has seen the cafe change hands three times. Very recently the venue seemed doomed to shut down for good, but an anonymous buyer snatched it up at the last minute, preserving it for the time being. (OOC Note: IRL Flore is closed and undergoing a rebranding, in game this has not occurred) On the Changeling side of things, the cafe is fairly non-remarkable, apart from Glamour being slightly easier to harvest (+1 to any rolls to do so). It also has a tendency to attract those rare people who can see through the Mask at times.|- |
The Castro

Description:
|
The Castro was one of the first gay neighborhoods in the United States. Having transformed from a working-class neighborhood through the 1960s and 1970s, the Castro remains one of the most prominent symbols of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ+) activism and events in the world. The Castro is a "thriving marketplace for all things gay" meaning the area caters to people who identify with LGBTQ+ culture and other associated meanings to the word gay. There are cafes, the Castro Theater, and many businesses that cater to or openly welcome LGBTQ+ consumers. These establishments make the Castro an area of high spending and lead to high tourist traffic. In addition to the city's locals, people travel to visit the shops and restaurants as well as the events that take place, such as the Castro Street Fair. On the Changeling side of things, Huntsmen have been avoiding the Castro since the changing of the Crowns, and nobody has figured out exactly why. Rumors range from the local queer Changelings working together to beat them back before they can do much, some sort of secret Autumn ritual, to a pact made with Pride.|- |
Chinatown

Description:
|
Chinatown is the oldest Chinatown in North America and hosts one of the largest Chinese populations outside of China. It has been important and influential in the history and culture of ethnic Chinese immigrants in North America. Chinatown is an enclave that has retained its own customs, languages, places of worship, social clubs, and identity. There are two hospitals, several parks and squares, numerous churches, a post office, and other infrastructure. Recent immigrants, many of whom are elderly, opt to live in Chinatown because of the availability of affordable housing and their familiarity with the culture. San Francisco's Chinatown is also renowned as a major tourist attraction, drawing more visitors annually than the Golden Gate Bridge. It is also, incidentally, the hub of organized crime in the city - the triads still operate, if not discreetly, as business associations and gentleman's clubs. On the Changeling side of things, Chinatown was once the seat of the Directional Courts. Gateways to dilapidated Hollows and decaying trods can be found in the backs of shops, at the end of alleys, and in the parks. It's assumed that the Dragon Gate was once a gateway as well, but no modern attempts to portal into the Hedge through it have worked.|- |

Description:
|
Golden Gate Park is a massive park located in SF's Northwestern quarter. Home to numerous museums, gardens, lakes, and walkways, there is never a lack of fun activities to engage with! Historically, it is also the location of most of the Summer of Love events, and to this day still hosts concerts and large events such as the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival and Outside Lands. That it's also a popular place to do drugs and midnight rendezvous is something most people try to forget. On the Changeling side of things, the park is full of mysteries and no small amount of dangers. Supernatural creatures and beings, both fae and non-fae are known to wander the park, and the random fairy doors and houses that keep popping up throughout the park (and to some extent the city) act as Hedgegates despite their diminutive size; they lead to random, and often dangerous locations in the Hedge. Description:

Union Square is a large plaza connecting to Downtown. Prominent features include a large fountain and a statue of Nike. Traditionally, most of the upscale shopping in the city could be found in the square and the surrounding few blocks, but recent times has seen this in decline. In addition to shopping, theater, dining, community events, and street performers add color to a neighborhood surrounded by squalor. On Halloween there is a large trick or treat event and during the winter part of the plaza converts so an ice skating rink. Union Square is also one of the hubs for the cable cars and thus attracts tourists year round. On the Changeling side of things, rumor has it that feeding Nike a bit of Glamour can twist fate in ones favor. The Autumn Court staunchly refutes the rumor and soft-forbids Autumn courtiers from feeding her. This has done little to stop the other courts, and even a decent amount of the Autumns have been seen doing so before major undertakings |
