Seattle's Kindred Society
“Empires inevitably fall, and when they do, history judges them for the legacies they leave behind”- Noah Feldman
The Ruin of Seattle
The carefully built structure that gives purpose to Kindred’s lives, without its fanged shepherds, was quick to crumble. Seattle’s ruins take several forms: former Elysiums left with no Keepers, Kindred businesses with no management, and territories left unchecked or monitored. Even blood dolls and ghouls were left masterless, clinging to dreams of immortality and pleasure that disappeared without warning; the picture of Seattle, formerly vibrant, was now a lifeless painting.
When the Court of Seattle vanished, it left no one behind to speak to what doom had fallen. The city went silent, and not even the ghouls of the kindred who vanished know what happened to their regnants, and the neighboring courts were stumped as to the reasons after all a snake unseen have the deadliest fangs. For some, it is a land of opportunity like no other, with no structure and no claims; for others, a black void and the promise of an end. Kindred now prepare to venture into the ruins of the fallen city and the scattered remains of the lives built there.
Who is left behind is not as well documented besides a single mortal, Anna Gao, empowered to speak and thus as such a rarity known well even to those in the Night Society outside of Seattle. There are surely other blood dolls and other mortals the kindred may be able to track down, but finding clues about what happened to the former court is top of mind for anyone arriving in Seattle.
Knowledge may prevent you from vanishing too.

Rumors & Hearsay
This section includes rumors that are currently known information. They are written in-character and are considered in-character knowledge for anyone who may have heard them through the grapevine.
"I’ve had a few people poking their noses into this for a while at great expense and all signs point to a few infernalists going a little too far when they threw a party and whoopsie summoned a demon that ate everyone. Isn’t that just crazy?" - Jane Smith
“Those fuckers have been spending way too time traveling to and from Portland. My bet’s on blaming the Dragons. They either were experimenting with way too many things beyond their control and ended up destroying their own fucking domain or probably thought they had some way to deal with mages and then it all went to shit and exploded themselves. I’m not surprised.” - Caleb Warwick
“Look, there are few things in this world that can erase a bunch of us without a trace and none of them are good. I don’t call myself a betting man, but I would guess that one of the real potentials would be the Strix… and that should scare you. What kind of an infestation takes out an entire city?” - Elias Ang
“I hesitate to say anything since it would be a simple hypothesis, but with the little data we have I may guess that Malkavia might be responsible, or have played a role. I realize that even speaking of this may upset a few of my fellow Kindred, but I think it’s important to weigh all the possibilities… I think we will have to go carefully if my theory is correct.” - Nikola Oldrich
“It’s not as complicated as most are making out to be in my opinion. More than once we had requests to help them deal with Hunters since Seattle couldn’t keep the Masquerade intact. It’s very sad what happened; a tragedy, but it’s also a lesson. Now we just need to go hunting for the Hunters.” - Emilia Rosewell
“They’ve been here as long as the Earth, the Moon and the Oceans have been here. Formidable guardians and beasts. Destruction and violence incarnate they destroy that which despoils and forgets what is most high and sacred. Be frightened and pray that you do not become the prey of the Children of the Moon.” - Clemence Levesque
The Power Vacuum
Since The Vanishing, The Vampire Court of Seattle has gone dark. The previous members of the city are nowhere to be found. Vancouver & Portland has sent representatives of each of the covenants to Seattle to investigate what exactly happened to the city.
Cautiously, The Court of Vancouver (BC, Canada) and The Court of Portland (OR, USA) are sending representatives of their courts and the representatives of the covenants to survey and find out what happened to The Court of Seattle. Some former members of The Court of Seattle are also returning to see what they can find, and what new powers they may claim. With the influx of new and opposing kindred into the city there is sure to be competition for resources, territory, and power.
The motivations of each of the courts can be speculated, by their own desires and the words and actions of their major players sent to Seattle to get a new foothold as a new power structure is formed. While their desires may not be well known, a Kindred would be remiss to assume that they had only pure motivations at heart. Seattle has become a place where anyone can claim power and territory, as long as you can hold it, and it is sure to remain chaotic until someone, or something, does.
The Major Players
- The Lost Court of Seattle, WA - Formally an Ordo Dracul held domain with much of the power shared with the Primogen Council. No covenant was suppressed, but all seemed to respect the leadership of the Prince… at least on the surface.
- The Court of Portland, OR - Carthian Law rules in Portland, and they have suppressed the power of the Invictus severely. While a young movement of firebrands pursues equality, this one is old and concerned with keeping power in the hands of the Carthians.
- The Court of Vancouver, BC - Invictus holds the domain but the Lancea et Sanctum also claims a strong power hold here. A rich and old city with diverse kindred and territory, it’s influential in the region, more so with Seattle off the map, for now.
Political Landscape
When the Vanishing Happened on December 31st 2022, only the mortals and ghouls knew right away. The slow spread of information from one praxis to another took another month. By February, Vancouver and Portland put a sort of "embargo" forbidding any kindred from traveling to the city to investigate what happened right away. Instead, the two Princes seemed to be waiting for the other to make a move first, and it ended in a feeling of uncertainty as neither made a move. Jane Smith and Nikolas Shaw agreed to send representatives at the same time, lifting the embargo, and finally venturing into Seattle itself. These two courts do not trust eachother, and are directly competing for this power vaccum to expand their reach. As of July 1, 2023, the embargo was lifted and travel for kindred to Seattle was "allowed" again.
In September, 2023 our story began with those arriving in the city finding blood, chaos, and mystery. A place that was for lack of all other descriptions a new frontier for kindred seeking no restraints that old governments would have. The vanishing still has yet to be solved, but there are clues scattered throughout the city. In November, 2023, the current style of government was selected and decided on by public vote at a Town Hall Meeting and the council announced laws of the city. On New Years Eve 2023, something happened at the stroke of midnight turning all the kindred within city limits into monsters. It seems, the clock is ticking on how long the kindred have to solve the mysteries of Seattle.

The Three Traditions Rule Us All
- Masquerade - Uphold the masquerade, or the council decides your fate.
- Progeny - You're free to embrace but let the council know so we know that your new childer is recorded. No embracing: Children, mentally ill, and the physically infirmed.
- Amaranthe - No Diablerie or a Blood Hunt shall be called.
Law of Territory
You may hold any territory you can claim and reasonably hold. If you claim domain within Seattle, right of passage is assumed without declarations from Domain Regent made and petitioned to the Primogen Council.
One specific Domain holder must be named, even when held by a coterie or covenant. This Regent is responsible for what happens within their Domain. Highways/Freeways/Tolls/Bridges may not be claimed and are considered public right of passage.
Seattle Center and The Space Needle are considered Public Racks and are allowed to be used for hunting by anyone.
Law of Announcement
All new arrivals must announce themselves to the Primogen Council within a month, or be considered trespassers.
Law of Cooperation
All information regarding “The Vanishing” must be reported on to The Council once discovered.
