Reminders for our Players

Post by Lilith »

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to take a second and message you all about what’s going on with the team. We are both very tired and low on spoons due to chat and real-life things combined, and these stressors are making it difficult to focus. The real-life stressors are something we have to prioritize and focus on, but I wanted to remind players of some things so that you can help mitigate any stress we have coming from running the Venue.

You’ll Catch more Bees with Honey: (Yes I replaced the flies with bees) It’s in our Code of Conduct that we are not supposed to be jerks to each other, and your ST team has had a lot of patience for borderline rude and condescending speech to us where we would have grounds to issue the player a PPS. We will not be tolerating that kind of abusive speech to your ST team anymore. We are people, and the most minimal thing you can do is treat us with the same respect and politeness that we treat you. It is within a Venue Team’s rights to venue ban someone for repeated behaviors, so this should serve as a reminder to every one of the following:

  • You never know what someone is dealing with on their shoulders that day. We will always treat you with kindness, but if we login to see someone calling us names, questioning our ability to ST, or in general “being a jerk” with actions or behaviors… you don’t actually know if that’s the breaking point for someone’s stress that day. Please on EN, and in life, treat everyone with empathy. Take a breath to reflect before posting.
  • If you’re frustrated with us or something we’ve ruled on, there are legitimate means to send in feedback. It is not ok to take your frustrations on your Team via your thread by being rude. We are not punching bags for your frustration or abusive behavior, please contact a Non-Venue ST member of the Admin Team if you want to “vent”. Please read the Rights & Responsibilities Page ( https://eternalnoire.com/newplayerguide ... ibilities/ ) and this key phrase in your right to Submit Feedback.
    RIGHT TO SUBMIT FEEDBACK.
Feel safe submitting feedback to the staff, positive or negative, about interactions with fellow players, scenes, and rules calls, or behavior or concerns from players or staff. You are protected under our “Whistleblower Policy” as long as your feedback submitted is sincere, complete and without omission of facts, polite, and true to the best of your knowledge. You will not be reprimanded as someone reporting suspected wrongdoing or submitting feedback. You have a right to your voice being heard by the site owner and administration team.

Your STs are human: We are people, and we make mistakes. Those mistakes will be admitted when we make them, but your approach shouldn’t be to demonize us for making mistakes. An empathetic approach to your STs and bumping things we miss in threads or PMing us with questions that may not be at the forefront of our minds running large 10+ people scenes is a courtesy we ask you to extend to us the same way our Code of Conduct requires you to do so for each other. You are also required to bump things before reporting the Venue Team for Feedback. If you forget to bump, it’s not on us to catch it the following week, it’s on you. Please read the Rights & Responsibilities Page ( https://eternalnoire.com/newplayerguide ... ibilities/ )

Please don’t FPM our Venue Team unless it’s Crossover Venue-Related: Hecate and & I get a lot of FPMs from just being on the Admin team so please keep all communication to your thread or on Chat. The exception, of course, is if you need to copy another venue team or the Admin team.

Venue-Business is handled on EN ONLY: Please don’t message us outside the chat for Venue-Related ST Questions. We have a right to be off duty, and doing so can be PPSable. It is also best for the transparency policy and for Admin review should any rules calls come into question that all the conversations between STs and Players are in areas of the site an Admin can easily review like your Thread or PMs. Please read the Rights & Responsibilities Page ( https://eternalnoire.com/newplayerguide ... ibilities/ )
RIGHT TO TIME OFF/”PLAY TIME”
When a ST is in their player skin or taking time off from being a ST on a break of any kind, they have the right to enjoy that time without disruption or issue. No player wants to have their ST burn out, so to try and keep that from happening we have this rule in place. Players are REQUIRED to Respect ST’s right to Time Off. All chat communication between a ST and Player should be done by chat, threads, or forums. Please ask permission from the ST if you want to talk about things through an off-chat medium (Discord, Facebook, ect.) each instance you do this. This is to ensure the ST is taking their “Time Off” and “Play Time”. Repeated offenses are subject to PPS.

All of YOU are the MAIN CHARACTERS: This means that the NPCs, while they’re there in the background, will not be solving plot for you. Work together, or not, with your fellow PCs but we will continue to direct you to our PvE style plot. No one character is more important than another, and we want everyone to shine at different points of the story doing what they’re good at. If at any time you need help to get involved, let us know and we will help. No one should feel overshadowed in the plot, and it’s everyone’s responsibility to help everyone have a chance to shine without trying to solve all the plot on your own.

I believe with this reminder we can keep having our game run smoothly and reduce some of the current stress levels of your Venue-Team.

Happy Roleplaying!

Athena
