[CtL] Rules Clarification: Darkling Clause of Riddlekith

Post by Hecate »

When a Changeling uses the Darkling Clause of Riddlekith to use a Kith Blessing that has a set duration or more permeant effect that changeling is “stuck” unable to use the Darkling Clause to change back or into another kith until such time as the power would be able to be used again, or the effect ends.

For example if a changeling changed into an Oracle (EN Custom Kith) and used the once a chapter power they would be unable to change back until a chapter had passed and they would be able to use that Blessing again.

For “permeant” things like Truefriend (EN Custom Kith) they Changeling using Riddlekith would be stuck as a Truefriend until they sacrifice the willpower dot to sever the binding tie.

The reasoning for this is that when you use Riddlekith to become another kith you are stepping into the “role” of that kith form the sense of the Wyrd. The Wyrd gives nothing for free and because you have used the benefit of that role you must maintain it until you are in a free-state to change again.

Since we’re already clarifying the use of the Darkling Clause.

You Keep access to your original kith’s Easy Exceptional success blessing and do not gain the other kiths because that blessing is reflective of what you did in Arcadia it is not that the supernatural power of the Lost is what makes them exceptional at that skill, it is that your time doing it in Arcadia made the Changeling supernaturally good at it.
